TINE DE RUYSSER

Range of decorative copper objects, inspired by the crease patterns of the folding work.

Concept:

This collection grew from the metal left over after creating a collection of folding pieces.  I would normally throw this scrap away; let nothing come of it; but not this time.  This time the dead-end was allowed to grow into a collection of it’s own.  It had in it such beauty that I could not let it fade away.

The pieces are in effect the negatives of the folding pieces:  not only are they made from what was not used, but they are also light, see-through and fixed in shape where the in the other collection the objects are dense, opaque and extremely flexible.  Even so, these negatives have turned into a positive range of work.
